Sype 020 – Matter & Light
Architectural Steel Light Sculpture
Industrial volumes in oxidized steel shape an indirect light whose source remains deliberately concealed.

Industrial Volumes, Matter and Light
Sype 020 is built around industrial volumes in oxidized raw steel: a central H-section, a half-tube and a U-section incorporating the light sources.
Designed to be viewed from every angle, the sculpture deliberately conceals the origin of the light. It diffuses between the different volumes, emphasizing their contours and revealing the nuances of the oxidized steel. Depending on the viewpoint, the composition shifts in character, creating a dialogue between mass, depth and light.

Sype's Thoughts
With Matter & Light, I wanted to start with simple industrial elements: an H-section, a half-tube and a U-section.
Assembled around a central axis, these volumes create visible light while keeping its source concealed. The sculpture changes character depending on the viewpoint: at times monumental, at times minimalist, inviting the eye to move around it and discover its different readings.
The controlled oxidation of the steel adds another layer of depth. The light does not erase the material; it reveals it.
