Sype 010 is a sculptural steel wall light built from a succession of squares in decreasing dimensions. Set apart from the wall, the different planes capture and diffuse light, enhancing the depth of the composition. When unlit, the piece reveals the geometry and raw character of the steel; when illuminated, light extends the squares and transforms their depth.

Sype's Thoughts
With Sype 010, I wanted to explore an elementary form — the square — by giving it a depth it does not have on paper. The planes gradually converge towards the centre, while light reveals the spaces between them. Depending on whether the piece is illuminated or not, the same construction appears either as a mass of steel or as a succession of luminous frames.
