Sype 009 is a handcrafted geometric steel lamp structured around a large circular form crossed by two diagonal lines and a horizontal axis. At its centre, the light source becomes part of a vertical composition where circle, line and illumination interact. Le Compas evokes a measuring instrument stripped of its original function, transformed into a sculptural object balanced between precision and movement.

Sype’s Thoughts
With Le Compas, I wanted to begin with a precise, almost instrumental form, then remove any practical function from it. The circle and lines could measure or indicate a direction, yet ultimately they lead nowhere. Light occupies the centre instead, becoming the only reference point and giving balance to the composition.
