Sype 012 is built around six overlapping steel discs, whose changing diameters and offsets create a sense of progression. Indirect light slips between the different layers, highlighting their contours and emphasizing the depth of the composition. Depending on the viewing angle, the circles appear to move closer together, spread apart or shift through space.

Sype’s Thoughts
With Sype 012, I wanted to create movement from a very simple form: the circle. Six steel discs overlap and gradually shift. Light slips between them and reveals each layer. Depending on where the piece is viewed from, the composition seems to open, contract or move forward into space.
